PREPARATION
- Degrease: Remove grease & grime with heavy-duty degreaser for optimal primer adhesion. We recommend a trisodium phosphate cleaner.
- Rinse & Dry: Wash cabinets with warm, soapy water & ensure they're completely dry.
- Sand for Bond: Lightly sand surfaces with 180-220 grit sandpaper or abrasive pad to create a strong bond.
- Wipe Clean: Remove dust with a cloth for a smooth primer application.
APPLICATION
- Stir & Apply: Mix well, then apply 1-2 even coats of primer with your preferred method (brush, roller, or sprayer).
- Drying:Let the first coat dry completely (1-3 hours, check label). Apply a second coat if needed.
- Extra Coverage (Optional): For new wood or transitioning from dark to lighter paint colors, apply a second coat to seal tannins.
- Smooth Finish (Optional):Lightly sand the dry primer coat (220 grit sandpaper/abrasive pad) to eliminate imperfections and contaminants. Wipe away dust before continuing onto paint.
CLEAN UP
- Wipe: Remove any splatters and drips from your work area.
- Wash: Since our Stone Coat Finishes Primer is a convenient acrylic water-based formula, simply clean brushes, rollers, and equipment with warm soapy water immediately after use. For a more thorough cleaning, you can use dish soap as well.
